The first time I experienced a Breathwork journey, I had no idea what it was.
I was in a difficult space and was trying to pull myself out of a nervous break down, struggling to find connection to myself and my purpose in life. I desperately wanted to heal and feel a sense of balance and peace. So this journey came at the perfect time, it helped move so much stuck energy from my body and being. While I couldn’t name what had shifted, I felt something transform. In the days and weeks that followed, I made life-changing decisions with a clarity I hadn’t felt in a long time.
That was the beginning.
Every journey since has had a different impact, depending on where I am in life.​

What is Somatic Breathwork
Breathwork is more than just breathing

It is Conscious Breathing
​​
Based on the principles of Conscious Connected Breathwork, a high ventilation continuous, rhythmic breathing practice that influences our biochemistry, nervous system, brain function & emotional status & facilitates deep level healing & transformation.

Our body (Soma) remembers everything even when our mind forgets.
Emotions are energy in motion. But when we are not able to process our emotions properly, for example from past wounds, trauma, fears, anxieties, abandonment, rejection, sorrow, grief, shame, guilt, this energy gets stuck in our body and shows up in our life in many ways including ache, pains, fatigue, chronic health issues.

Contraindications to High Ventilation Breathwork
High ventilation breathwork technique intentionally alters our breathing patterns that also impacts the biochemistry across the body and brain inducing physical, mental and emotional changes. For people with certain medical or psychological conditions, these effects can pose risks.

People with absolute contraindications should refrain from engaging in high ventilation breathwork unless they obtain written consent from a physician. Relative contraindications are conditions under which a person may proceed with caution.
​​
Absolute Contraindications:
1. Cardiovascular disease including angina, previous heart attack or stroke
2. High Blood Pressure (not controlled with medication) or Low Blood Pressure with a fainting history
3. Diagnosis of aneurysm in the brain or abdomen
4. Uncontrolled Thyroid Conditions and Uncontrolled Diabetes
5. Epilepsy and/or Seizures
6. Prior Diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia or a history of Psychosis or severe PTSD
7. Mental health concerns not in treatment/lack adequate support, or where person is in emotional/spiritual crisis
8. Glaucoma
9. Detached Retina
10. Pregnancy
11. Any Other medical, psychiatric, or physical conditions which could impair or affect the ability to engage in activities that involve intense physical or emotional release (including coming off recent medications like HRT)

Relative Contraindications:
1. Asthma
2. Recent Surgeries in the last 6 months
3. Presence of Acute Illness or Symptoms
4. Osteoporosis

This list is not all inclusive and it is recommended that a physician is consulted before beginning Breathwork if a condition exists that is not listed here.
